GPS location as a condition for working from home

Employees of the local authority in Petržalka, Bratislava, must provide their GPS location when working from home, otherwise they will not be able to access the attendance system. The mayor has faced criticism for monitoring the movement of employees during the so-called home office. Is it a violation of employees' privacy or personal data protection by the employer?
